Surgery

Oral surgery includes:

  • removal of teeth;
  • tooth root resection;
  • gingivoplasty;
  • replacing teeth with implants;
  • plastic for lip and tongue ties.

A low upper lip attachment can prevent the eruption of permanent teeth into the correct position, leaving a gap between the front teeth. In the case of a low attachment of the lower lip, the constant movement of the lip can cause the gum to recede from the front teeth and expose its root surface. In such cases, plastic correction is indicated.

Partially erupted wisdom teeth cannot always be removed by conventional methods and a slightly more extensive surgical operation must be performed.

In our clinic, oral surgery procedures are performed with local anaesthesia, which is usually sufficient and better for health than general anaesthesia. After the surgical procedure, the wound site may be painful and slightly swollen. The patient is given a leaflet to take home, which explains exactly how to treat the pain and take care of the wound.

1.Removal of teeth

If the teeth have been damaged to such an extent that it is no longer possible to restore them, they must be removed. Otherwise, inflammation will develop, which will also affect the general state of health.

Many people think “no tooth, no problem”. In fact, it is not quite so, because tooth removal is one part of the big problem. Removing teeth should not be taken lightly, because absolutely every tooth has a specific task to perform in the dentition. If even one tooth is missing, there will be an overload somewhere and this will lead to new problems. That is why after the tooth is removed, it must be replaced.

Tooth extraction is performed under local anaesthesia. It is a painless but a little uncomfortable procedure for the patient. If necessary, the wound is closed with stitches, but in any case, the wound site is slightly swollen and painful after the procedure.

The patient is given a leaflet to take home, which explains exactly how to treat the pain and take care of the wound.

Removal of wisdom teeth is indicated if they cause problems. Wisdom teeth are located at the very back of the jaw and may be partially erupted due to lack of space. In such cases, their removal is more difficult compared to the removal of normally erupted teeth.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, the tooth is removed and the wound is closed with stitches. If necessary, the doctor also prescribes antibiotic treatment. After the surgical procedure, the wound site may be painful and slightly swollen. The patient is given a leaflet to take home, which explains exactly how to treat the pain and take care of the wound.

Periodontal plastic surgery is covering the exposed root surface with gum. This, in turn, is divided into two: using artificial materials or the patient’s own tissues.

Orthodontic treatment, continuous too-strong brushing, trauma, incorrect tooth attachment, etc. can cause receding gums and exposure of tooth roots. The dental crown is covered with enamel, which is quite resistant to any external damage. Enamel does not reach the surface of the tooth root, but it is physiologically covered with so-called cement, which, unlike enamel, wears out quite easily. When the gingiva has receded and the cementum is exposed, it wears down faster when brushing and causes the tooth to become sensitive and creates an esthetic problem.

Dental implant is the most effective and modern way to replace missing teeth.

HanzaDent Dentistry has a wide selection of implants according to the needs and financial capabilities of each person. The price of the implant (implant and crown together) starts at 1,200 euros.

Before placing a dental implant, the extent of the need for prosthetics must be assessed. The anatomical structures of the patient, the availability of bone volume, general health, habits and medications used play a big role.

A dental implant is placed in the patient’s jaw, and its prerequisite is sufficient existing bone volume and good oral hygiene. Risk factors include smoking, diabetes, poor oral hygiene, active periodontal disease, and anti-osteoporosis medications.

Pain, swelling, redness and hematomas may occur after the dental implant placement surgery. Each patient is also given a leaflet to take home with a detailed overview of how to heal as well as possible after dental implantation.

At HanzaDent Dentistry, implants have been placed daily for 15 years. The success rate so far is over 99%.

A dental implant must be cared for in the same way as one’s own tooth, and regular check-ups must be done. However, dental implants are damaged by smoking, general diseases (diabetes), anti-osteoporotic drugs, patient parafunctions (teeth grinding), poor oral hygiene and active periodontal disease.

It is also possible to support poorly performing oral removable prostheses with the help of implants and significantly improve their stability.

Old-age pensioners can receive €260 compensation from the Health Insurance Fund once in three years for the money spent on prosthetics.
